No Really, how does it REALLY Work?

Technically Speaking…

Animal communication is a bridge between the animal(s) and the practitioner’s minds that allows information, emotions, intentions, and images to move between these minds without the use of speech.

I use telepathy (direct mind-to-mind communication), clairvoyance (visual images or scenes), clairaudience (auditory messages in forms of words or sentences), clairsentience (feelings, emotions or impressions) and claircognizance (just knowing without knowing how I know) to receive and translate these nonverbal messages.

The Translation is Where it gets Tricky

(Really, Cathy, THAT’S where it gets tricky?) Yeah, actually, it is. I have to use the culmination of my knowledge, experiences and feelings to interpret all this information, so it’s always going to be biased and tilted toward my understanding and interpretation. This is why 5 different animal communicators will get 5 different twists on the same message from one animal. I originally thought that if I’m connecting to the right animal and I’m talking to them, I should be 100% accurate 100% of the time. I quickly realized that communication doesn’t work that way - even if you’re the same species speaking the same language. It’s always going to be filtered through the speaker’s lense, the interpreter’s lense and the listener’s lense. It’s an imperfect art - interpreted, translated then fed back to you.

So how does it work?

Honestly, I don’t think anyone really knows. I have some ideas - like somehow, I’ve been given a gift from God. Or everyone has this ability, I’ve just had a lifetime of developing it and going down the paths that have led me here. There’s the theory that all information is floating in some energetic cosmic plane and some people can tap into it. What I do know is that just like a cell phone, computer or even prayer, I don’t know how they work but I still utilize them and benefit greatly from doing so. Maybe the value isn’t in the understanding of it. I can talk to and understand animals. I love to share that gift with others. It makes my world a better place and it really helps the animal kingdom. I’m an animal lover. If I can make their world a better place, too, I’m all for that.

Here are some further explanations of some of the terms I used above, in case you want a better understanding.

Telepathy

  • Definition: Direct mind-to-mind communication. Telepathy involves the transfer of thoughts, images, feelings, or short messages from one consciousness to another without using physical senses.

  • How it shows up: In an animal session, telepathy can deliver brief impressions like “I like that toy,” “I’m scared of the door,” or a mental image of a preferred sleeping spot. Telepathic impressions may be instantaneous and come as flashes rather than detailed narratives.

  • Role in communication: Telepathy often provides the basic link — the pathway through which specific ideas and simple mental content travel between animal and human.

Psychic connection

  • Definition: A broader term for an intuitive bond or resonance with another being that may combine several clair-abilities. It describes the overall felt connection that allows ongoing exchange.

  • How it shows up: A psychic connection can create a warm, continuous sense of another’s presence — their emotional tone, concerns, and personality. It may feel like tuning into a radio station where different signals (images, feelings, words) come through at different strengths.

  • Role in communication: The psychic connection sustains and deepens the reading. It establishes trust and lets more subtle information surface over time.

Clairvoyance (clear seeing)

  • Definition: The ability to receive visual images, scenes, or symbolic pictures that represent information about the other being or situation.

  • How it shows up: You might see vivid or symbolic images: a favorite yard, a food bowl, a past injury, or metaphorical symbols that represent feelings (for example, a heavy stone suggesting sadness). These visuals can be literal or symbolic and may arrive as quick snapshots or a short movie-like sequence.

  • Role in communication: Clairvoyance is particularly useful for understanding physical situations, recalling events, or identifying objects and places connected to the animal’s experience.

Clairaudience (clear hearing)

  • Definition: The ability to hear words, tones, or sounds psychically — either in actual words spoken internally or as impressions of sound.

  • How it shows up: The communicator may “hear” a phrase such as “I’m lonely,” or sense the cadence of an animal’s vocalizations amplified into meaning. Sometimes emotional undertones are clearer than literal words.

  • Role in communication: Clairaudience supplies verbal content and tonal nuance. It helps when animals convey intentions or express needs in a way that resembles speech.

Clairsentience (clear feeling)

  • Definition: The capacity to feel another being’s emotions, physical sensations, or energetic states as if they were one’s own.

  • How it shows up: The communicator may physically feel warmth, heaviness, restlessness, pain, or joy corresponding to the animal’s state. Emotions like fear, contentment, grief, or excitement are often experienced directly.

  • Role in communication: Clairsentience grants emotional accuracy and depth. It is particularly valuable for assessing health issues, anxiety, or emotional wounds because those often appear first as felt sensations.

Claircognizance (clear knowing)

  • Definition: The experience of suddenly knowing specific facts or truths without a conscious analytical process or external evidence.

  • How it shows up: Information may arrive as a clear, confident insight: names, ages, why an animal behaves in a certain way, or the best course of action. These are usually received as a firm, internal certainty rather than a visual or auditory impression.

  • Role in communication: Claircognizance helps the communicator make sense of impressions from other clair-abilities, filling in context and providing direct guidance that feels “just known.”
